When I Walked Into This Room

Freelance media assassin and erstwhile Undergrounder Kevin Talbot has a new site in development called Spypunk, a term I first encountered in the script for Grant Morrison’s Invisibles-related story “...And We’re All Policemen,” as a descriptive phrase for a musical genre whose parameters no one but Grant can seem to define with any certainty. (Combustible Edison? Geddouttahere!)

I, however, have been listening more or less constantly to the one song which should acknowledged classic of the genre, however you define it: “I Kill Spies,” by Agent Orange. That this choon has never been used as the theme song for a James Bond movie is proof, if more were required, that there ain’t no justice.
