Workout Wednesday: 130 BPM (Cross Bones Style)

(What is Workout Wednesday?)

Day 3 takes me to the cardio program on the arc trainer. I’ve used this for a brisk walk on the treadmill, too.

130 bpm 1: Cross Bones Style
Come All Ye – Fairport Convention
Run RunawaySlade
Tall Ships Go – Big Country
Slide (Richard Fearless remix) – Scala
Jolly Roger – Adam & The Ants
Dark Moon, High Tide – Afro Celt Sound System
The Wake of the MedusaThe Pogues
Jique –Brazilian Girls
Stormy Weather – Echo & The Bunnymen
Land Ho – Roger Hodgson
(cooldown) A Pagan Place – The Waterboys

So, you may ask: “Jack (you ask me),why pirates?”

And I could hand you some jive about the mystery and romance of the sea, or about the freedom to forge one’s own destiny, but that would be a crock and we’d both know it. The truth is obvious and superficial. Pirates are bad-ass.

Pirates fight the power. Pirates have a code of honor, albeit one more honored in the breach than the observance. Pirates help the needy, when it suits them. Pirates like to kill fascists. And from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirate King to Monkey D. Luffy, the pirate has stood for self-creation and the will to power.

Which may be about the freedom to forge one’s own destiny, after all.

Download this mix (45:38, 41.7 megs: YouSendIt link good until 24 January).
