Everything about Drew seemed calculated to intrigue and irritate—the idiot-savant virtuosity, unencumbered by music theory; the cut-and-paste songwriting; the unreconstructed punk-rockness; the monumental selfishness. There was a big ugly scar across his throat. I always wondered, but never asked.
